The 2022 edition of the EMF Champions League will get underway on Wednesday

The 2022 edition of the EMF Champions League will get underway on Wednesday evening when SB Sabornog Hrama representing the host nation, Montenegro, do battle against Bosnian side, SIPA Sarajevo.

On Friday morning, we'll also see the start of the EMF Masters Champions League with Romanian team AV Glissando Timisoara taking on home team, FK Obilic.

Group A

Albanian champions Prestige MFC are no strangers to the EMF Champions League and will be hoping to again make the knockout stages like last year, but they won’t have it all their own way as they face decent opposition in 7Edma Patrioti (Slovakia), SIPA Sarajevo from the Bosnian capital and home favourites SB Sabornog Hrama, who will be hoping to do the home nation proud and go as far as they can in the tournament.

Group B

Favourites in Group B will no doubt be last year’s Champions League runners up, AEK Oradea. The Romanians heartbreakingly for them were denied their first title last year when they lost to Mad Dogs of Hungary on penalties. They will be desperate to take the trophy this year, especially in the absence of the Hungarians, but they will face tough opposition in their group from teams from the reigning European Champions, Azerbaijan (Beerbasha) and the reigning World and European No.1 ranked country, the Czech Rep (G.I.C La Plate De Cunde). Completing the group are DXC Technology from Bulgaria.

Group C

Home side Dadi Gradnja, who were knocked out in last year’s tournament at the last 16 stage will hope that playing on home soil can make a difference and help push them towards glory with the help of the partisan home crowd.
In their way, FC Laguna from Pardubice in the Czech Republic will be hoping to emulate their national team in being a force to be reckoned with in international Minifootball, but it’s expected that Champions League newcomers, Magufana (Greece) and Dynamis Chisinau (Moldova) will be difficult opponents as they look to be the first champions from their respective countries.

Group D

Hungarian teams are never easy to play against and SZPCDSE are expected to be no different and will start Group D as favourites.
Hungarian Minifootball dines at the top table and having already provided previous champions in this event, it will be no surprise to see SZPCDSE go all the way, but Israeli team, Red Meat Tadiran will hope to continue their countries progress in Minifootball and get to the latter stages.
Newcomers EXC Mobile Ochota (Poland) and Flamingos FC (Greece) will hope to cause an upset but they will have their work cut out in a tough group.

Group E

There’s two Hungarian teams competing this year, the second of which is Todor Pet Bau Team KFT.
Last year’s beaten quarter finalists will want to progress further this year as will Terra Trak Veliko Tarnovo (Bulgaria) who fell at the first hurdle in the knockout stages a year ago, both will hope that experience will stand them in good stead for a better tournament this time around but strong Bosnian (Liten Sarajevo) and Albanian (ATS) sides stand in their way and will hope they can make a good first impression at this year’s event.

Group F

The final group is arguably the group of death. Romanian teams are always finely tuned in this format of the game and it’s very rare to see one not make it out of the group. To get out of the group here though they will have to be at their best against strong Croatian (MNE Viskovic Automobili) and Moldovan (Interdnestrcom) teams. The sides from Pula and Tiraspol respectively are not here to make up the numbers and will be looking to advance as far as possible in the tournament.
The only Austrian team in this year’s Champions League, FC International Kickers, won’t fear any of their opponents and will be looking to cause an upset or two on their way to the knockout stages.

Make sure you tune in to watch all the action live. Details will be announced soon as to where you can watch all the games.
